Planning Application Update
January 2024
The planning application that the City of London Corporation has submitted for City of London Police’s Eastern Base at Middlesex Street Estate is due to be heard by the planning committee on Tuesday 13th February 2024. Hard copies of the plans are also available to view at Artizan Street Library.

Community Meeting
Tuesday 12 September
We would also like to invite you to attend an open community meeting at 6pm on Tuesday 12 September at Artizan Street Library to meet with members of the project team, City of London officers and City of London Police representatives. The meeting will be chaired by Cllr Helen Fentimen and will be an opportunity for you to ask questions of the team and view the final plans and visuals that have been submitted.
Access to the library will be via the Gravel Lane stairwell.

Planning Update - Letter to Residents and Commercial Tenants
4 August 2023
We are writing to inform you that the City of London Corporation, in its capacity as police authority, will shortly submit a planning application for the City of London Police’s Eastern Base at Middlesex Street Estate. The application is due to be submitted on 8 August 2023, and will be validated shortly after.
You will be able to view the application here
We will write to you again soon to let you know the application number and how you can register your comments. It is expected that the plans will go to the committee in early November, but we will keep you informed.
We would like to thank the resident representative of the CSG group for their voluntary time and commitment to this project, and we hope that many of the benefits secured as part of this scheme will be enjoyed by residents for years to come. We hope that many of you have been involved in the consultation process and visited the public consultation meeting to view the final plans.

Residents Response document
The purpose of the Section 105 Consultation was for the City of London Corporation’s Department of Community and Children’s Services to consider whether parts of the basement car park, ground floor service yard and Gravel Lane shop unit areas proposed for alternative use at the Middlesex Street Estate are still required for housing purposes.
The Section 105 Consultation ran from 4 to 31 July 2022. There was a public event at the Artizan Street Library on 12 July, which was attended by 23 residents and commercial tenants.
The consultation generated 53 separate pieces of feedback; a mix of questionnaires submitted online, on paper at the public event, by post, via email and direct phone calls.
The document issued to all residents and commercial tenants of the Middlesex Street Estate on 12 August 2022 seeks to answer, wherever possible, questions that have been asked as part of the consultation. The sole purpose of the Section 105 Consultation was to determine whether the proposed space is surplus to housing use.
